Canadian-Swedish singer Kiralina Salandy, together with The Rhythm Division, presents an electrifying, passionate, and stylish tribute to one of the greatest icons in music history—Nina Simone.

With a voice rooted in gospel, soul, and traditional jazz, Kiralina manages to capture the energy, fragility, and raw power that characterized “High Priestess of Soul.”

Together with her trio (The Rhythm Division)—featuring Carl
Orrje on piano, Patrik Boman on bass, and Harry Wallin on drums—
Kiralina performs a selection of songs written by or associated with Nina Simone. The set list includes songs such as “I Wish I Knew How It Feels to Be Free,” “Feeling Good,” “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out,” and others, all in personal interpretations. Plenty of swing and a captivating atmosphere are guaranteed.

Kiralina Salandy – Vocals
Canadian singer Kiralina Salandy has been active in Sweden for the past 10 years in Sweden and has established herself as one of our
leading gospel artists. She has also performed in the musical The Book of Mormon at the Chinateatern, collaborated with Jerry Williams, sung at the Nobel Prize ceremony (2020), and showcased her soulful and expressive voice in a variety of jazz settings.

Carl Orrje – piano
Swedish pianist and composer Carl Orrje is a well-known figure on the Swedish jazz scene, renowned for his elegant playing and stylish arrangements. He has moved freely between traditional swing, bebop, and modern jazz formats, led his own groups, and collaborated with several of the country’s most prominent vocalists and instrumentalists.

Patrik Boman – double bass
Bassist, producer, and bandleader Patrik Boman is one of Sweden’s most sought-after jazz musicians, with a career spanning several decades. In addition to leading his own acclaimed ensembles, such as Patrik Boman Seven Piece Machine, he runs record labels—PB7 and PB8—and has provided a solid foundation for a long line of Swedish and international jazz stars.

Harry Wallin – drums
Drummer Harry Wallin is a versatile and responsive rhythm section player who, with his precise feel and fine swing, has become a sought-after sideman in a variety of musical contexts. For many years, he has been a central figure on the Swedish club and concert scene, where he regularly accompanies some of the country’s leading jazz artists.

Nina Simone (1933–2003) var ett musikaliskt underbarn skolats i klassiskt piano som skapade ett helt eget uttryck genom att väva samman klassisk musik med jazz, blues, soul och folk. Med sin djupa alt-röst och intensiva pianostil blev hon känd som “High Priestess of Soul” och skapade odödliga tolkningar av låtar som Feeling Good och I Put a Spell on You.

Under 1960-talet blev hennes musik en kraftfull röst för den amerikanska medborgarrättsrörelsen, där hon använde sin plattform till starka protestlåtar som Mississippi Goddam och To Be Young, Gifted and Black för att öppet utmana rasförtryck och orättvisor.

If you have a dinner ticket, you’ll be served a two-course dinner.

Main Course – Choose 1 of 3 options when you book:

  • FISH: Glazed Farm-Raised Fish—Clarias with confit tomatoes, pickled berries from the farm, foamed butter sauce, and toasted breadcrumbs with garlic—served with butter-tossed boiled potatoes topped with chives
  • MEAT: Wild boar loin with oven-roasted potatoes and carrots, cognac-pepper sauce, black currant jam, baked tomato, and sautéed cabbage
  • VEGETARIAN: Pan-seared zucchini with apple glaze, quinoa salad with tomatoes, fresh green beans, yellow pea purée with tahini, Parmesan, green peas, and mint

Dessert

  • Vanilla ice cream with fresh berries from the garden, lavender dreams, raspberry sauce, and black currant leaves
  • Coffee / tea

You can specify any allergies or dietary requests, etc., which you should indicate when making your reservation.

For those with a dinner ticket
If you have a dinner ticket, you have a table reservation from 18:00, food is served from 18:45.
The concert starts at 19:30.

For those with standing room
The bar opens at 18:00 and offers a nice selection of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options. A bar menu will be available. You’ll have standing room during the concert. The concert starts at 19:30, but please arrive at least 30 minutes early.

About Kafé Källtorp, to do before or after the concert
Kafé Källtorp is located by Lake Källtorpssjön. The farm consists of a conservatory with associated garden, greenhouse and bike park. You are welcome to look around the garden, take a dip from the bathing jetty or take a walk in the beautiful surroundings.

Accessability
Both the room (conservatory) and the toilet are accessible, but there is a gravel floor in the conservatory.

Bus
Bus 401 runs from Slussen to Älta several times an hour, stopping at Källtorp (about 15 minutes from Slussen).
Bus 401 from Älta, stopping at Källtorp.
Bus 821, which runs between Tyresö Centrum and Nacka Hospital, also stops at Källtorp.

Car
It is possible to park in the courtyard, turn left when you enter through the gates. Limited number of parking spaces.
