From Grand Ole Opry to Progressive Roots
Few Swedish guitarists have a track record like David Henriksson. After years in Nashville, the capital of country music, where he toured 36 states and played at legendary venues such as Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium, he is now back in Sweden with a playing style that is absolutely world class.

David’s time in the United States included performances with everyone from today’s megastars such as Luke Combs to 90s legend Tracy Lawrence. He has performed in front of audiences of 30,000 people, but it is in his craftsmanship and musical nerve that he truly belongs. Since 2021, he has also been a regular member of Rhapsody In Rock, where his versatility really comes into its own.

Back home in Sweden, David leads his own passion project: David Henriksson & Daze Delight. Together with some of the country’s most talented musicians – Daniel Karlsson (keys), Patrik Engström (bass) and Johannes Sidenqvist (drums) – they explore a boundless musical landscape.

Their acclaimed debut album Progressive Roots (2022) is exactly what the name suggests: a mix that is rooted in tradition but constantly looking forward. It blends Nashville twang and bluesy swing with elements of both jazz and fusion. It is instrumental, technically virtuosic and filled with that special drive that only arises when musicians who really know their instruments are given free rein.

David Henriksson – Guitar
David has his musical roots in Stockholm, having trained at Rytmus, RML and SMI. He is a highly specialised guitarist in country, blues and rock, with significant experience from the United States. In 2019, he toured extensively with American artist Kyle Daniel and has also worked with big names such as Tracy Lawrence and Luke Combs. In Sweden, he is one of the most sought-after guitarists and has appeared in major productions such as Robert Wells’ ‘Rhapsody In Rock’. He is also a recognised figure on the global education platform TrueFire, where he shares his expertise in country and blues guitar.

Daniel Karlsson – Keyboard
Daniel is a pianist with a genuine feel for blues and boogie-woogie, which gives the band its authentic groove. He is a central member of the acclaimed rhythm & blues collective The Beat From Palookaville, known for their rousing mix of 50s rock, ska and soul. His style is characterised by timeless craftsmanship and a joy of playing that is deeply rooted in traditional blues music.

Patrik Engström – Base
Patrik is an experienced bassist with an unwavering focus on swing and ‘the pocket’. He is a permanent member of the critically acclaimed band Ida Bang & The Blue Tears, which has enjoyed great success on the European blues scene and represented Sweden in the European Blues Challenge. He has also participated in contexts ranging from indie pop with The Confusions to various blues and soul constellations.

Johannes Sidenqvist – drums
Johannes is a versatile drummer and teacher who moves smoothly between genres. He is a key member of the blues and soul band Julia & The Basement Tapes, with whom he won the Swedish Blues Challenge in 2017. In addition to blues, he is often hired by modern pop acts and is active as a drummer for the artist Hanna Ferm, among others. His playing style combines a modern pop feel with a solid blues foundation.
