Ale Möller trio-
Källtorp JAZZ & SOUND

Ale Möller, Olle Linder and Mats Öberg join forces! With jazzy influences and music from the latest album ANDRAS, the trio offers an evening you will remember! Warmth and humour, wonderful tones and a unique sound!

In 2012, Ale Möller and his long-time musical collaborators – legendary keyboard virtuoso Mats Öberg and acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Olle Linder – met. The chance meeting was the start of a long-lasting collaboration. Over the years, the trio has played together in countless contexts, always with the same infectious joy of playing and musical curiosity.

This concert, which is part of the Stockholm Jazz Festival, the trio will focus on the jazzier side of the repertoire they have developed together over the years. The audience can expect unexpected interpretations, improvisations and a musical conversation that moves freely between tradition and experimentation.

In February 2024, Ale Möller trio released their first joint album: ANDRAS, on the Swedish record label Supertraditional. The disc contains twelve personally interpreted covers – a playful, cross-genre meeting between three of Sweden’s most creative musicians.

Ale Möller started out as an electric guitarist in his youth and got his first job as a musician at the age of 15 in a production of the Tollvskillingsoperna directed by Peter Oskarson. Ale Möller later changed focus to a career as a trumpet player in the jazz group Jazzådé and then in the Cabaret Orchestra.

Ale Möller is now best known as a folk musician. He participated in the Tältprojektet and then played with Filarfolket. Ale learnt to play the bouzouki in Greece, where he played for three years in Neo Minores led by Mikis Theodorakis. The bouzouki continued to be one of Möller’s favourite instruments, even after he had mostly switched to more or less traditional Nordic fiddling. In the early 1990s, however, the bouzouki began to be increasingly replaced by various types of octave mandola and song mandola, which he developed together with the instrument builder Christer Ådin.

Ale Möller has so far participated in hundreds of recordings, either in his own name or as a member of a large number of different constellations. Ale Möller started and runs the Ale Möller Band, which has performed and recorded discs with great success and has won several Grammy awards.

Few artists achieve a fifty-year career, and even fewer remain leading, creative and constantly curious about something new. One who has achieved this is Ale Möller.

Olle Linder plays bass, drums, guitar, mandola and various types of percussion. He plays in many contexts, but mostly in folk and world music and often with artists such as Ale Möller, Simone Moreno and Celtic Roots, but also e.g. Bebo Valdes and Swedish pop singer Robyn. More recently, he has toured with Swedish pop singer Tomas Ledin (drums), Brazilian singer Simone Moreno (drums, percussion), and Anne Sofie von Otter (stand-up bass). Olle Linder started his career at Södra Latins gymnasium and has since played in many countries, including South America. Olle has recorded his own albums such as the disc “Kasta Loss”.

Mats Öberg plays in the Mats/Morgan band. The band was originally called Zappstetoot and was formed in 1981, when Mats was just 10 years old and Morgan 14.

This formation took place before a gig at a music café in Yttertavle outside Umeå, where they played songs by the Beatles and Frank Zappa – without any joint rehearsals. When Frank Zappa played in Stockholm in 1988, the duo got the chance to play a song with the band, on stage in front of an audience, which led to them being invited to the Zappa’s Universe and Zappa at Lincoln Center projects in 1993.

Öberg has also played with most of Sweden’s musicians such as Ale Möller Band, Fläskkvartetten, Lena Willmark Frank Zappa, Mikael Ramel and others.
Mats Öberg has a broad musical heritage. His father plays the saxophone and his uncles are among the Umeå area’s most recognised jazz drummers. Mats Öberg is also the nephew of pianist and composer Bernt Egerbladh.

For those with a dinner ticket, two specially composed dishes are served.
