Basic mountain bike course

Learn the basics of mountain biking! A fun and educational day in one of Sweden’s finest mountain bike areas.


This course is for those who want to learn the most important basics of mountain biking. The course is also suitable for experienced cyclists who want to try mountain biking for the first time.

  • Price: 1 595 kr incl. lunch, small breakfast and coffee break.
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
  • Dates: 24 Aug, 15 Sep, 28 Sep, 13 Oct.
  • One-day course: bring your own bike or rent one from us.

You have attended our try-out course, or you have done some mountain biking before, or are very used to riding a regular bike.

  • Positioning on the bike.
  • Use of “dropper post”.
  • Front wheel lift, brake technique, shifting, simple cornering.
  • Cycle up and down slopes.
  • Great cycling on moderately difficult trails.
  • For adults of all ages or for young people accompanied by an adult.
  • Division into smaller groups according to previous experience.
  • We recommend wearing knee pads, which are available for purchase in our shop or to rent on site.
  • Rent a mountain bike during the course, this year’s model and in top condition. You can choose between a mountain bike with front suspension only or one with both front and rear suspension, a little more comfortable and safer.
  • Venue: Meeting point is Mountainbikeskolan / Kafé Källtorp, Ältavägen 105 in Nacka. We have some parking lots that are free of charge for guests. Bus 401 stops just outside our enclosure, bus stop “Källtorp”.
  • Schedule: Your course runs between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Please arrive about 20 minutes early, there is breakfast, coffee and sandwiches, and you have time to arrange your rental bike.

    The course starts at 10:00 AM with assembly and review of the day’s schedule and then we cycle off for technique training. Back for lunch at 12:15 PM when we eat vegetarian and locally produced food from Kafé Källtorp. At 1:00 PM, we’ll go on a lovely trail run to put all the tech tips into practice. We are back at the mountain bike school at 3:00 PM to summarize the day over a coffee.
  • Make new cycling friends: During the course you will get to know other students. We arrange for everyone who wants to sign up to a ‘buddy list’. There are usually groups on Facebook or WhatsApp so that you can stay in touch with your group and meet up for mountain biking even after the course.
  • What to bring to the course: T-shirt, sweater or windbreaker, shorts or trousers. Sneakers or walking shoes. Water bottle for bike, alt. backpack with a water bottle. Gloves can be useful.

    We have everything we need to fix punctures and other potential problems on your bike during the course.

    Good if you use platform pedals, not “click-in” pedals on the course, it is easier to learn the correct technique then. You can borrow pedals from us or buy them on site. We’ll help you switch pedals if you want.

    Dropper post, it is very good if you have a dropper post on your bike. If you have an older bike, it may be better to rent one. All reasonably modern bikes can be used.
  • 10% off in the shop for course participants: Mountainbikeskolan has a shop with bicycle equipment such as helmets, arm and knee protectors, gloves, tubes, tires, pumps, etc. As a course participant you have a 10% discount on everything in the shop during the bike tour day. Mountainbikeskolan is a Trek dealer and has a wide range of rental bikes of all Trek mountain bike models.
  • About us: Mountainbikeskolan started in 2014 and has been running mountain bike courses ever since. Mountainbikeskolan has a garden café and a garden with its own greenery, berries, fruit, vegetables and herbs. There is also a bike park. Mountainbikeskolan organizes cycling events and dinners for companies and groups who enjoy good food and great cycling.
